Virtual Display

Remote Desktop was rebranded to Virtual Display with the addition of HDMI link support. My prototypes for user testing and OS alignment informed each of our team's many shipped features the last three years: multiple monitor support, aspect ratios (including ultrawide), monitor layout logic, input forwarding, HDMI link, (and the "Connect" affordance for Windows 11 listed below). Rocky Road

A web browser note-highway music app for guitar and piano with full support for WebXR-capable headsets. I ported open-source frameworks to a web context and created a unified design system for desktop and XR. More info

A partnership between Meta and Microsoft that enables remoting into a Windows 11 PC just by looking at its keyboard in the Quest and selecting "Connect." My prototypes for user testing and OS alignment informed the setup flow and the tracked keyboard affordance specs. More info

About Me

Andrew Gwinner graduated from UC Santa Cruz's Computer Science: Computer Game Design major in 2018 with three acclaimed senior projects. He led Volkswagen's IECC Mixed Reality Lab's efforts to create interactive XR visualizations of future vehicle concepts. At Meta he was a Product Design Prototyper working on Orion and the launch slate of Augments, Virtual Display, Horizon OS 2.0, and other future XR products.
